What is Dried Lime?
Dried Lemon, Black Lumi, Lumi Desert, Lumi Basrah, whatever it is called, refers to the small fruit with a hard shell that is used as one of the flavoring and aromatic spices. It is widely used in Indian and Iranian cuisine and a number of Arab countries. But the delicious taste and the smart smell do not represent the full benefits of this plant, but its real benefit lies in the containment of many important elements of human health.

Dried lemons dried lime (also known as black lime) is lime that has lost its water content, usually after having spent a majority of their drying time in the sun. They are used whole, sliced or ground, as a spice in Middle Eastern dishes. They are used heavily in the Persian Gulf and also Iranian cuisine where they add a strong bitter flavor in addition to sourness. They are made by boiling ripe limes in salt water, and then sun drying until the insides turn black. The outside color varies from tan to black. They are sold whole or ground. - Powdered dried lime is also used as an ingredient in the Arab States of the Persian Gulf-style baharat (a spice mixture which is also called kabsa or kebsa).
- Black lemon is used mainly for the purpose of adding the delicious taste and smart smell of food. It is not strange to find appetizing food as part of its benefits. This Sudanese standard is formulated by the technical committee No.4 formed according to the administrative decree of the SSM0/1/A/I dated 18/8/01. It applies to dried lime. On formulating this standard the committee has referred to international publications and works of Sudanese researchers on the subject.

Dried Lime exporting process
- We pack our Dried Lemon in 50 kg polypropylene (PP) bags.
- We load the 40 feet containers with up to 10 metric tons of the Dried Lemon.
- The minimum order quantity (20ft FCL) takes a period of 10 to 15 days to be on board of the vessel, this period varies depending on the quantity ordered.
- The port of loading is PORTSUDAN (SDPZU), with a possibility to re-export from other nearby ports in the middle east.
- Lead time to reach the clients desired port depends on the shipping lines used and the destination to that port, usually varies between 2 to 8 weeks for farther destinations.
- Payment terms and documents are provided along with the shipment, they are mentioned in the products main page **(please check)
- Dried Lime is falling among the products which the US sanctions against Sudan has not exempted, therefore cannot be exported directly from PORTSUDAN to the US market unless obtaining a special OFAC license.
